What it is

EasyCoat is a two-component, 100% solids polyamide epoxy coating, with no solvents or volatile organic compounds (VOC 0 g/L). It is applied by brush, roller or airless spray, up to 250 µm dry film thickness per coat. It can be used as a single coat or combined with other coatings, on prepared steel or on well-adhered aged coatings.

Where it is used

  • Exterior of pipelines and piping, buried or above ground.
  • Coating repair and weld joints on site.
  • Tanks.
  • Metal structures exposed to aggressive atmospheres.

How to apply it

  1. Remove the existing coating and degrease the surface with EasyWipe-E®. Then clean by abrasive blasting (Sa 2 / SSPC-SP 6 on above-ground pipes and Sa 2½ / SSPC-SP 10 on buried pipes) or by power tool cleaning to bare metal (SSPC-SP 11).

  2. The surface must be at least 3 °C above the dew point. Apply EasyCoat within 4 h after cleaning.

  3. Pour part B into part A and mix for 5 min. Use the mix within 60 min (at 25 °C) and do not thin it.

  4. Apply by brush, roller or airless spray, up to 250 µm dry film thickness per coat. For higher thickness, apply successive coats every 8 to 24 h.

  5. Check wet film thickness on each pass, dry film thickness at the end, and continuity over the whole surface with a holiday detector.

Before backfilling or immersion, observe the times in the data sheet. On request, we provide the surface preparation and application instructions, including the one for welded joints. Would you rather we apply it? See Recoating.

Calculate how much EasyCoat you need

Enter the surface and the thickness. You get the liters, the weight and the kits to request a quote.

Calculation without the calculator: liters = surface (m²) × dry film thickness (µm) ÷ 950 ÷ (1 − losses). Reference losses: 15% with brush or roller and 30% with airless. Example: 100 m² at 250 µm with 15% losses gives 31 L, that is, 8 kits of 4 L.

Mix a little at a time

The mix lasts 60 minutes at 25 °C. Prepare only what you will apply in that time.

Estimate based on the coverage in the EasyCoat® data sheet: 3.8 m²/L at 250 µm dry film. Actual consumption may vary with the anchor profile, geometry, applied thickness and application method.
